The CTC process is a powerful and audacious framework that requires creative ways to recruit diverse community members and other important stakeholders; recruitment is an ongoing element in the work of Communities That Care. Once we have folks recruited and committed, it’s important for us to work on ways to retain their involvement in meaningful ways. We welcome you to learn from some of the great work being done in the state of Montana with a focus and highlight of both successful recruitment and retention in the work of community mobilization in prevention science.

Jaclynn Sagers, Senior Community Prevention Strategist

Jaclynn Sagers is a Sr. Community Prevention Strategist and CTC Coach Manager, who has been working with the CTC framework for over 16 years. Jaclynn has extensive experience leading and supporting communities through the CTC process as well as supporting CTC Coaches working in state systems. Jaclynn is coaching and supporting the efforts of CTC in multiple states and communities.

Kelly Hart, CTC Coach 

Kelly Hart has been a CTC Coach supporting communities across the beautiful state of Montana since 2020. She has been involved in prevention for over a dozen years in a variety of roles and she feels privileged to work with the CTC community, especially the Coordinators who inspire her often. She owns Hart of Montana Consulting, and has a Master of Science in Health Promotion and a Certificate of Public Health from the University of Montana. She currently lives in the rural community of Alberton with her husband, two cats, and one sassy husky.

Katie Wagner, PhD

Katie Wagner, PhD, is the owner/operator of EmpowHERed Life, LLC, a public health consulting business in Montana, and she is currently serving as a CTC coach for 6 communities across the state.  Prior to her work with CTC, Katie worked in academia as a professor of Public Health and Health Sciences at Carroll College in Helena, MT, where she taught courses in health policy, social determinants of health and health disparities, research methods, grant writing, and program planning and evaluation. Early in her career, Katie worked in public health as a tobacco prevention specialist, corporate wellness, and in diabetes prevention, all of which helped pave the path to her current work. Katie lives in Missoula, MT with her husband Matt and their two young kids, Maggie and Zeke, and their dog Daphne.
